The Butterworth Art Walk is located between Lorong Bagan Luar 1 and Lorong Bagan Luar 2 , next to the Lodge 18 Hotel in Bagan Luar, Butterworth, Malaysia. I discovered this little gold mine of street art quite by accident after I checked into the Lodge 18 Hotel, across from the Dataran Merdeka Pemuda. The beginning of the walk is on the small lane next to the hotel. The art walk project was born from a collaboration between Think City (a community-focused urban regeneration organization) and architect Zaini Zainul and his team of local artists. Nine murals were originally painted for the launch back in 2017, but now there are many more as you can see in the video. Most depict the history of Butterworth. It's well worth a visit whether it be a special trip just to explore Butterworth or a side trip from Penang Island.
