Description

University Libraries at the University of Nevada, Reno developed a virtual reality experience called the Reno Street Art Project, a multimedia time capsule highlighting street art on display in Reno between July 2017 – December 2017. Street art painted on walls and buildings around Reno have become a celebrated part of the city’s character. Librarians and multimedia specialists at the University collaborated with local artists to generate a digital archive populated with more than 500 entries of street art representing more than 200 individual murals and virtual reality (VR) gallery celebrating this medium. This project is available on display at the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center at the University of Nevada, Reno and will be available on a wider platform soon.

The Street Art Stories series take this experience further by including interviews from 5 artists on their views of what street art and being a muralist means within the Reno community.

Joe C. Rock is a self-taught artist, born in Stockton, California. His recent focus has been on mural work and fine portraiture, but he stays close to his roots combining graffiti and illustration throughout work. Joe has lived in Reno, NV for 23 years.
